❓ Party FAQs

What age group are pottery painting parties suitable for?

All parties are suitable for ages 5 and up.
Children aged 4 may attend 5th birthday parties, but younger ages are not recommended due to the nature of the activity.

Do parties include a host?

Yes — party packages include a party host.
Large non-party group bookings using the room do not include a host.

What time should we arrive?

Parties begin promptly at the booked time, so we recommend arriving around 10 minutes early. This allows time to settle guests, organise food and get everyone ready to start together.

What facilities do you have?

We have:

  • A hand-washing area within the studio

  • Baby changing facilities within the studio

  • A large worksurface for food & drinks and a cake stand within the Ruby Room

Due to the building being an old barn conversion, we unfortunately do not have a toilet within the studio.

The nearest toilets are located by Old Gray Barn Antiques, less than a one-minute walk from the studio. We recommend asking guests to use the toilet before the party begins to avoid unnecessary interruptions.

Can parents stay during the party?

Yes — parents are welcome to stay in the Ruby Room, space allowing.

  • The maximum capacity of the Ruby Room is 16 people

  • If you have fewer than 12 children, additional adults are welcome up to this limit

This helps keep parties private, calm and enjoyable for everyone.

Can we add the paint bar upgrade to a party?
Party packages do not include use of the paint bar. We do not recommend adding the paint bar to parties for children of any age.

What are the timings for the party sessions?
Each party lasts 2 hours, with the painting usually taking around 1hr 15min - 1hr 30min, leaving 30-45min for refreshments and presentation of the cake.

Can I bring my own food/order a pizza?
Our sessions are self-catering. Common options include bringing home made lunch boxes, ordering party platters or ordering a takeaway (Deliveroo delivers to us from The Lexicon) We do not serve any food in the studio but have a small drinks menu available for any guests who would prefer a barista coffee.

Food & Allergens

Parties are self-catered and we do not prepare or handle food.

The party host (booking adult) is fully responsible for:

  • All food and drinks brought into the Ruby Room

  • Managing and communicating any allergens or dietary requirements to guests

While we take care to keep the studio clean and safe, we cannot accept responsibility for allergens in food provided by guests or third-party suppliers.

Can I bring party games?
You are welcome to bring along a small activity such as colouring or pass the parcel - these are not provided however. We recommend against games such as musical statues due to space restrictions.

Can I see what the space looks like?
You are welcome to visit the studio in advance! This must be done during our opening hours and does not need prior arrangement.

Can I decorate the space?
You are welcome to decorate The Ruby room and are welcome to bring balloons and decorations. We request that you do not bring confetti or confetti filled balloons however, doing so will incur a £50 cleaning fee. We will however clean all reasonable mess left behind including food rubbish, no need to bring binbags or anything else of that nature!
Do all parties include the handprint wall?

Yes — every party includes a handprint on the Ruby Room wall, creating a lasting memory of your celebration.

How soon after the party can we collect our pottery?

Pottery will be ready for collection 7 days after the party.

All items will be:

  • Carefully glazed

  • Professionally fired

  • Packed together in a party bag

For safety and organisation, we ask that one responsible adult collects all items on behalf of the group.

What if we have a large group but don’t want a party?

Groups of over 9 who are not booking a party must contact the studio directly. These bookings can use the Ruby Room to free up main studio space but do not include a party host or party package features.

Is there wheelchair access?

Unfortunately, due to site and access conditions, we are unable to provide wheelchair access to the Ruby Room.

If you would still like to celebrate with us, please contact the studio — we can arrange for a birthday celebration in the main studio instead.

Can I bring along a face painter/ children's entertainer?
You may bring along an entertainer but they must be counted within your non-painting adult limit. We are restricted on space, so they may need to be 'roving' rather than having their own station set up.
